The fitness world is becoming increasingly interested in some substances that are advertised to solve some problems, our body cannot overcome naturally. These substances are called peptides and are synthetic hormones obtained by associating two or more simple amino acids. The resulted compound is similar to a small protein meant to improve physical performance.

Growth peptides are compounds that determine the pituitary gland to produce more growth hormone. Despite common beliefs, the human body does not cease to produce growth hormone. Our body starts producing somatostatin, a growth hormone inhibitor, meaning that smaller amounts of growth hormone are released as we age. Growth hormone is responsible for our vitality, so it is not unusual for people to seek to supplement the amount their body produces.

The most common peptide compounds used to increase the secretion of growth hormone are IGF-1 (Insulin-like growth factor), GHRP-6 (Growth Hormone Releasing Peptides), Ipamorelin and mechano growth factor. There are many others as well, but they won’t be mentioned here. Actually, there are dozens of such compounds on the market. They come as freeze dried powders that need to be reconstituted with bacteriostatic water and injected into the body. Amongst the benefits, we can include the increase of muscle mass, reduction of fat percentage, boost of post-workout recovery. Most growth peptides also influence speed and endurance.

Since injectable peptide substances have a huge advantage: they are easier to digest due to their simple structure. This makes them more efficient when seeking immediate results. The body saves on energy since it doesn’t have to break down huge molecules of protein. Also, peptide supplements seem to be more stable when introduced into the human body, compared to un-chained amino acids.

Basically, these peptides are used to increase athletic performance while facing less severe consequences. Or at least so it seems. But to what end? Most of these compounds are available for research purposes only. But what’s even more important, many of them are banned from athletic use. The main reason for this situation is that few clinical studies have been made regarding extensive peptide usage.

Precautions when taking Growth Peptides

Many peptide compounds sold online are legal to be owned, regardless the warnings from authorities. So in case you decide to use them, there are a few matters that need to be discussed. First, after dosing, it is highly recommended that you refrain from consuming carbohydrates or fats. It seems that when combining peptides with carbs or fats, the overall effect is decreased substantially.

Another important aspect to have in mind is saturation. The human body is capable of absorbing only a limited amount of peptide to ensure the desired effect. Going over that limit would only lead to waste. Furthermore, overdosing can lead to serious side effects. Some experienced fluid retention or intense hunger. Moreover, trials that have been made on animals proved that increasing the levels of growth hormone would increase the aging effect, rather than reversing the effects. With that in mind, it’s a good idea to take such substances with precaution. Stop if the situation gets out of hand and seek medical counseling.
